The M26 Pershing was one of the most powerful tanks in the term of general performance during WWII. Its development was almost done by the end of 1943, but the U.S. military was in no hurry to put it into battlefields. It saw its first combat in 1945. The Pershing tank influenced the design of U.S. tanks after the war and its design was even reflected on the M60 main battle tank.
